Talent Show FAQs

ALL FRIDAY SHOW SLOTS HAVE BEEN RESERVED. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO RESERVE A SPOT IN THE SATURDAY NIGHT SHOW. SEE YOU THERE!

Q: Who is the talent show for?
A: EVERYBODY! Free admission for registered attendees, open seating (first-come, first-served), leave when you like, stay as long as you wish.

Q: Who can enter the talent show?
A: EVERYBODY! We invite anybody who is a registered attendee and wants to share their talent! Sing, dance, juggle, act, clown, tell jokes, do impressions ... ANYTHING! The only rule: Keep it under 3 minutes.

Q: What happens if we go over three minutes?
A: The Master of Ceremonies (MC) will warn you when you have 30 seconds left. Then -- sorry to say -- he has the right to take the stage back in order to ensure that all of the acts in each show get their fair share of time and attention. Frankly, nobody knows what the MC might do. Don't test him.

Q: I have an interesting talent to demonstrate in under three minutes. How can I sign-up?
A: Three ways to get in on the fun.

  • ONE: The TALENT SHOW SIGN-UP SHEET will be available at the on-site registration until 3:00 p.m. Friday. Again, it's first-come, first-served, and once the slots are full, they are full. We anticipate having two shows, Friday and Saturday, 5:00 p.m. start time.
  • TWO: After 3:00 p.m. Friday, the TALENT SHOW SIGN-UP SHEET will be posted on or near the performance stage in the MegaCenter.
  • Q: Once everybody is signed up, how does the actual show work?
A: All acts that have taken/been assigned a time slot will be required to check-in with the Talent Show Stage Manager at 4:00 p.m. (one hour before show time) on the day of their show. The acts are "staged" (put in the order in which they will appear on stage) and then ... the show must go on! Each show will start at 5:00 p.m. promptly.

    Q: What if I miss the pre-show check-in?
A: You may lose your assigned time slot if you miss the pre-show check-in. We require pre-show check-in to organize, prepare, time, and expedite the Talent Show. The Talent Show Stage Manager and MC will make every effort to ensure that the act is given their assigned slot.

Q: What if I need special equipment?
A:The Talent Show provides a pair of microphones. If you need anything else -- a keyboard, CD player, a laptop, a screen -- we strongly recommended you reserve a time slot in advance via e-mail. We may be able to provide special equipment.

Q: What if I want to bring my own equipment?
A: We strongly recommend you reserve a time slot in advance via e-mail, even if you are bringing and using your own equipment. We need advance notice in order to plan how to move items on/off stage as well as any potential connections to power and/or amplification.

Q: I have an amazing talent that may take more than three minutes. Can't I just sign up for multiple consecutive slots?
A: Sort of. The entire Talent Show is subject to the judgment and decisions of the Talent Show MC and Stage Manager.
