You’ll meet an adviser to President Lincoln whose strategic proposal turns the tide of the war; share danger and intrigue with cunning spies; accompany Harriet Tubman as she whisks slaves to freedom and leads a Union military expedition; meet America’s only female Medal of Honor winner; and watch two Southern sisters risk everything to oppose slavery.

E24 - Games - Cucumber - Family Workshop (Jay Graf)

Come to one (or more!) of our four Games workshops to learn a new game or to play an old favorite.  There will be many games to choose from including Uno, Candyland, Yahtzee, Pictionary, and Apples to Apples.  Each session will also highlight a game or two to be taught by the presenter.

In this session you can add another great card game to add to your repertoire:  Cucumber.  Although it’s not a popular card game, it deserves to be; it’s quick to learn and fun to play for all ages.  The object of the game is to play your cards so that you have the lowest remaining card at the end of the game.  But watch out, your opponents can force you to play your lowest cards if you’re not careful.

Ages 4 - 99.
(Ages 7 and under require chaperone.)

E35 - Cryogenic Demonstration Family Presentation (Jerry Zimmerman)

The Mr. Freeze Demonstration shows the interesting and fun properties of cryogenics using Liquid Nitrogen (LN2). It is an exciting, science-based demonstration with lots of surprises and a few explosions! Lots of different properties and effects of the extreme cold are demonstrated and explained. Make learning science fun for everyone, while encouraging kids to become more interested in science.
